Resilience. Scenario planning. Proactive risk management. These aren’t new phrases – they have been circulating in our industry for years. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: for most of us, they remain talking points rather than action plans.

Sean Culey put his finger on it recently during the Dun & Bradstreet Power of Data Podcast when he observed that too many people in our industry are busy describing the world as it is – cataloguing disruptions, mapping risks, narrating the chaos – without ever getting to the question that actually matters: “So what do I do as a result of that? What action should I take? How do I change my business?”

That challenge sits at the heart of this edition.

We are proud to introduce a number of first-time contributors from around the globe, and we thank each of them for their generous time and preparation of content. From Australia, Dr. Stephen McGee shares his insights in “From Shock Absorption to Strategic Advantage: Resilience and Scenario Planning in Modern Logistics.” From South Africa, Letitia Davids provides visibility of a rarely discussed dimension in “The Eclipse Effect: A Rare Glimpse into Illicit Alcohol and Supply Chain Resilience.” From Europe, Dr. Frank Binder shares his thought-provoking article “Preparing our Supply Chains for a More Risky World.” From Singapore, Jason Kristofer tackles the rising risks of cargo crime in “An Era of Fast Evolution and Innovation: Utilizing Modern Resources as a Strategic Advantage.” And from the US, Evan Armstrong returns to provide a detailed analysis of “Resilience in the Global 3PL Market.”

What connects every one of these pieces is that none of them stop at description. Each author has gone beyond the “what” and wrestled with the “so what”— and more importantly, the what now. That is exactly the shift logistics and supply chain industry needs.

Enjoy the read — and ask yourself Sean Culey’s question. The answer might just reshape how you run your enterprise.
