Leading Supply Chain Design – What is this

Synopsis

Supply-chain design is no longer simply about determining where to locate facilities or how to move goods at the lowest possible cost. In the era of the never normal where we work and deal in environs that are fragmented and unpredictable, it is a strategic discipline that shapes an organisation’s ability to compete, respond to disruption and support growth.

This session with leading global supply chain experts will examine what effective supply-chain design means in practice and how leaders can make better decisions about network configuration, sourcing, manufacturing footprints, inventory positioning and logistics partnerships.

It will explore how organisations can balance cost efficiency with resilience, assess the implications of changing trade patterns and regionalisation, and use data, technology and scenario planning to evaluate alternative network designs before committing resources.

The discussion will also consider how supply-chain design can move beyond a one-off strategic exercise to become an evolving management capability, enabling organisations to adapt as markets, customer expectations and operating conditions change.

The key question: Are organisations designing supply chains for the world they operated in yesterday or for the markets, risks and competitive realities they will face tomorrow?
