Lok Hwee Chong is Director, Trade, customs & Export Compliance for Asia & Americas at STMicroelectronics based in Singapore. He is responsible for the export control screening and compliance of all customs and regulatory requirements for STMicroelectronics in all operational activities such as HS Codes declaration, Import and Export Licences for strategic goods, compliance to US-sanctions on denied parties etc.
Before joining STMicroelectronics, he was TNT Regional Customs Affairs Manager responsible for the development of customs clearance and trade services for TNT Express and ensuring dissemination and compliance to customs laws and regulations in all operational activities. Hwee Chong also served with distinction as Senior Manager at the world’s largest audit firm, PricewaterhouseCooper (PwC).
With regard to his ASEAN credentials, Hwee Chong was the Assistant Director and Head for both the Investment and Enterprise Unit and Finance and Macroeconomic Surveillance Unit at the ASEAN Secretariat based in Jakarta. In addition, he was a senior government trade official with the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry for more than ten years, serving as Singapore’s head of delegation for various ASEAN committees, such as the Coordinating Committee for the Implementation of CEPT for AFTA, the ASEAN Task Force on Rules of Origin and Working Group on Industrial Cooperation.
