John Manners-Bell is Chief Executive of market research organisation, Transport Intelligence; Visiting Professor at London Guildhall Business School and an adviser to the World Economic Forum. He has over 30 years’ experience working in and analysing the global logistics sector.
John started his working life as an operations manager of a UK logistics company. Prior to establishing Transport Intelligence in 2002, he worked as an analyst in consultancies specialising in international trade, transport and logistics. He also spent a number of years as a manager of global express and logistics company, UPS, in a strategic corporate development, marketing and communications role.
John holds an MSc in Transport Planning and Management from University of Westminster and is an Associate of King’s College London where he studied Classics and Theology. He is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a Member of the Institute of Directors and an adviser to the Supply Chain and Logistics Global Advisory Council of the World Economic Forum. He has also advised the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport.
John has travelled widely, undertaking research and speaking at conferences in countries including China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Brazil as well as in the Middle East, USA and extensively throughout Europe. He has had several papers published in academic journals and is widely quoted in the international and trade media as well as making regular appearances on radio and television. He has authored three books: ‘Global Logistics Strategies’, ‘Supply Chain Risk’, and ‘Logistics and Supply Chains in Emerging Markets’.
