Barry Akbar has varied experience spanning sourcing and distribution in Europe, America, the Middle East and North Asia, as well as real estate, tourism and airlines earlier in his career. He was Group Regional Managing Director for Oceania at APL Liner and developed APL Logistics into a formidable business within four years. He led the Vietnam operations of the NOL Group—including APL Liner, VICT Terminals, First Forwarding, Century Feeders and APL Logistics—for five years, before holding regional senior roles in commercial, operations, training and service quality across Asia Pacific and the Americas. Barry was previously General Manager for PT CH Robinson Global Forwarding in Indonesia.
Barry holds a master’s degree from the University of Hull and other qualifications across several disciplines from Lancaster University, MIT and the Ross School of Business.
