Bipin Balakrishnan is a Director/Counsel – Tax and Customs for General Motors International Operations based in Singapore.
Bipin has over 22 years of experience as a consultant and in-house expert advising multinational companies on supply chain, indirect taxes and international trade related issues including logistics programs, customs, excise export controls and VAT/GST. Specifically, Bipin has been involved with issues relating to trade agreements, customs valuation and classification, customs facilities, export controls as well as indirect tax mapping & planning.
Bipin has spent several years in the US, Singapore and China serving corporations in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. Bipin has extensive knowledge in operational effective supply chain management issues through his involvement in large projects in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Americas regions for varied industries such as consumer goods, Automotive, Oil & gas and Textiles.
Bipin is a lawyer by training and holds an honors degree in law specializing in Corporate and Trade Laws from the National Law School of India, Bangalore. Bipin is also a regular speaker and panelist at Compliance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs, Trade, Indirect Tax and Transfer Pricing related conferences and seminars across Asia, Middle East and Africa.
