Melvin Tan is the Chief Executive Officer of InspireM, a dynamic management consultancy firm specializing in strategic advisory and organizational transformation. With a distinguished career across the public and private sectors, he brings deep expertise in leadership, operations, and international collaboration.
Prior to founding InspireM, Melvin served as Senior Vice President at IMREX, where he was instrumental in forging strategic partnerships with leading global defence companies. He is also a retired officer of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), where he held a series of key leadership appointments, including Commanding Officer, School of Logistics; Chief Transport Officer; Deputy Chief Guards Officer; and Director of the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Coordination Center.
In 2004, Melvin was deployed in Aceh to support the Boxing day Tsunami, working with the TNI ground Forces for NGO coordination in Meulaboh. He subsequently worked with the same TNI forces to hand over NGO coordination to UN OCHA. In 2014, he was pivotal in establishing the Changi Regional HADR Center, which continues to serve as a regional hub for multinational disaster response and coordination. During the 2015 Nepal Earthquake, Melvin was coordinating logistics support from Singapore in support of the Singaporean and Bruneian contingents in Nepal. As Director of the HADR Center in 2020, Melvin was responsible for coordinating part of the regional COVID Relief effort that Singapore engages in.
Melvin is currently involved in the immersive events and build space with the PushButton Consortium, with projects ranging from the National Service Gallery to Mr Bean’s Culture & Heritage Center.
Melvin holds a Mechanical Engineering (Hons) Degree from the Nanyang Technological University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Singapore Management University.
